Feeding systems
Laimet screw chippers can be furnished with feeding chutes or spiked roller in-feeding conveyors. There are two types of the conveyors, a short model and a long model. Conveyors are electric powered or in mobile use conveyors work by hydraulics. Screw chippers do not need any feeding device, because a rotating conical screw pulls logs into the chipper automatically. But in-feeding conveyor makes easier to in-feed the chipper and speeds up feeding. There are a few feeding breaks between logs and the total productivity will be higher with the conveyor. Very often the neck of the productivity of screw chippers is just a slow feeding rate. Screw chippers are very fast and effective and it is good if there are always logs available. That’s why we recommend feeding conveyor with our heavy duty chippers.
Sawmill chippers use tape conveyor for in-feeding and there are also two kinds of tape conveyors in our product range a short and a long model.
